Alpha
Beta chapter was established on November 17th, 1996 by Fernando Fernandez.
The Chapter first included Syracuse and then two gentleman from Lemoyne
College crossed on February 16th,1997. They were David Munoz and Chey
Rodriguez. With this addition the chapter became a metro chapter between
the two schools. The following fall 6 new members were inducted into the
chapter hence the brothers decided to split up the chapter because of its
fast growth. In Fall 1997, the chapter experienced two lines, the first
composed of students at Lemoyne College and the second at Syracuse
University. The one from Lemoyne would go from being Alpha Beta's Gamma
line to Alpha Mu's Beta line and the one from Syracuse would then become
Alpha Beta's Beta line. These six gentlemen are Jose DeJesus(AB), Amado
Almanzer (AM), Daniel Espinoza(AM), Juan Cruz(AM), Renaldo Fernandez(AM),
Vinicio Nunez(AM). The Chapter went on to cross its gamma line in Fall 1998
and Delta line in Fall 1999. With the graduation of its members the chapter
went through a period of inactivity and would not have another line until
Winter 2004 when two men chose to complete the journey towards the
brotherhood. These men were Jaime Badia and Juan Taveras. They were helped by David Perez II
founding brother of Beta Eta chapter who was at the time an administrator
in the office of residence life at Syracuse University. Founding Brother David Munoz (AB/AM)
along with Renaldo Fernandez (AM) and Walter Benati (AM) helped the
national board of directors with the induction of these two men. They
helped the two inductees learn about the chapter was revived with new faith
and a drive for success. In the Spring of 2007, a new line crossed at Alpha
Beta. It was with the induction of Anthony F. Paredes that Alpha Beta
stayed alive after epsilon line had left. Anthony is the only brother on
campus right now but his young blood and enthusiasm will help the chapter’s
recruitment and recognition with the university. He is currently working on
many community services and with his line brothers at chi chapter.
