Alpha Phi Chapter History
In the fall of 1998, two men of Latino background shared a vision for the need of an organization for Latino males on campus. Alex Martinez and Emanuel "Buff" Preciado felt that the Latino males on campus were not united and in an effort to achieve unity, they decided to research different organizations throughout the United States. Coming to no consensus the men were distraught. During the school year the men also tried to find other Latino males who shared their vision, however, they were unsuccessful. It was not until September of 1998 that the two encountered other Latinos of a similar vision: Gustavo Garcia Jr., Erami Izquierdo, and Jose Ochoa. The five men first met at the Latin American Student Organization (L.A.S.O) picnic. This is where they began to share their ideas and views. These men decided that they should have a meeting to continue their discussion. For the first time in over a year this vision was quickly becoming a reality. After extensive research, the men believed that they had found an organization of strong Latino unity, respect for all cultures, and above all a strong brotherhood. The men met in Carman Hall Room 355 and went over what it would take to bring this organization to campus. After a long and intense meeting the men had agreed that Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc. would be the right choice.

On October 18th of 1998 their dream became a reality when the five strong men became Brothers of Lambda Theta Phi. Today Alpha Phi chapter has gained recognition on campus and the Interfraternity Council.

On fall semester of 1999, the chapter had the first rush week and found 4 interested men. Many came to see but only these four individuals proved they had what is needed to be a Conquistador.

On October 22nd, 4 new brothers were initiated into the fraternity. The Beta Line; "The Four Horsemen" are Rafael Pasillas, Mace Oropeza, Jaime Luna, and Carlos Martinez.
