In the Spring of 1998, a handful of men came together to discuss the need for a true Latino Fraternity at the University of North Texas. Though many Greek letter organizations existed, none could offer what the men were seeking; chivalry above self.

Then men researched various fraternities, but after few months, only one stood out as a clear favorite;

Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Incorporated

So after many weeks of hard work, 20 men emerged from the lambda process on April 5th, 1998, ready to conquer the University of North Texas.

The founding brothers of Alpha Tau chapter were from many different parts of the world including Ethiopia, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. The men were also in different periods of their college career ranging from sophomores to seniors. This would prove vital to the existence of the chapter.
