Sunday, February 15th
Unity Hour: The "N" Word - Ujamaa Residential College (Main Lounge) - 8:30pm

..... "Yo, my ni**a, that ni**a's crazy,"
........ "we do not serve your kind in here, you ni**er"

WHAT DO THESE TWO SENTENCES HAVE IN COMMON?

NIGGER: |ˈnigər| (n, offensive): a contemptuous term for a black or dark-skinned person.

Since the 17th Century, the word nigger was used as an adjective denoting a black person, and has long had strong offensive connotations. Today it remains one of the most racially offensive words in the language.
Join the Brothers of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc. as we discuss the reasons why this word has become a common term in our vocabulary, how we add to the inconsistencies surrounding the word (i.e. the word can only be spoken by an African American person)., and how it has become socially acceptable to allow people outside of the African American race, privilege of the word's usage.
