Chapter History

The Gamma Iota Chapter of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc. at The University of north Carolina at Charlotte was founded on May 6, 2007 by five determined men. These five men represented different Latin cultures that included Puerto Rico, Mexico and Colombia. They were David “Pointman” Arroyo-Garay, Eider “Nightshift” Valencia, David “Boogie D” Hernandez, Jose “Machete” Posada Jr., and Jose “Mr. Clean” Rodriguez. All five men saw a need for a group of individuals to break down the stereotypical images of Latinos in the Charlotte community. Brothers David Hernandez and Jose Rodriguez began looking for interested men. These five determined individuals would make it through the process to become Lambda men. The induction officer and mentor of the chapter was Founding Brother of Beta Iota Chapter, Moises Cardenas.

The five Founding Brothers from UNC Charlotte would be presented to the University on October 26, 2007. On October 3, 2008 the chapter was proud to present their Beta Line; “The Dark Knights of Destiny” to the campus. They were Mario “Renegade” Herrera and Adrian “MorPHIus” Rodriguez. Then on February 14, 2009, the Gamma Line would cross to officially represent a new mile stone in the chapter. Since then the brothers of the Gamma Iota Chapter have been dedicated to serving the community and to improving the fraternity’s relationships with the University as well as with other Greeks.
